Part of our mission as tool builders is to build connections within our local community. Curt’s Closet is one of the organizations we partner with in pursuit of that mission. We work with Curt’s on a continual basis and support their IT needs, including building a custom application for guardians of vulnerable children to apply for assistance.

Curt’s was founded by a single mother in honor of her late son who was the victim of a drunk driving accident. They serve local families in need—including low-income, foster, and military families, as well as families dealing with unexpected emergencies—by providing them with clothes, shoes, backpacks, and lunch boxes for free.

This holiday season, our local team dedicated a Friday morning to volunteer for their annual “Curt’s Christmas” project which serves over 500 families for Christmas. (The remote members of our team were also given the opportunity to volunteer for a local charity in their own communities.)

When we arrived at the Curt’s Closet warehouse, we were provided with gift wish lists from the recipients—with requests ranging from winter boots to art supplies—and were instructed to “spoil them.” So, for several hours, we focused on doing just that, handpicking, and packaging up boxes of gifts and necessities for these children and their families.

While we were there, Ashley, the founder of Curt’s came in to help and told us the story of one little girl whose Christmas wish was to have her own violin. Just that week, someone donated to make that wish come true.

Being able to serve and give back in a tangible way to an organization doing so much good in our community was an amazing experience for our team, and we are excited to be back again next year.
